A major hurdle in missions today is constructing sustainable income streams. Income streams not only addressing the life choking poverty over 3 billion people cope with daily, but also funding ongoing church planting movements within these cultures and settings.
One of the effective ways Crossroads is addressing this often insurmountable problem is through its Micro-development Projects. One example is the Tailoring Project being carried out in Nagaland, India. Addressing poverty on an individual basis by providing jobs and income to previously unemployed women this project also provides a steady stream of income that helps fund discipleship groups, evangelistic outreaches and church planting efforts. Some of the profits have been used to sponsor the Youth Evangelistic Outreach called “The Awakening”, a ministry of Crossroads aimed at establishing a spiritual renewal movement among the complacent Christian young people filling the churches of Nagaland. Two “Awakenings” have already taken place with overwhelming success as thousands of young people have reencountered the living Christ and rededicated their lives to Him as Savior and Lord. Currently a “university” church, targeting university aged young adults, is in the works for Nagaland. This is a direct result of funding provided by micro-development projects like the Tailoring Project being plowed back into the mission endeavors of Crossroads.
From its inception Crossroads has focused on developing indigenous missions and missionaries. Micro-development projects also provide indigenous missionaries a funding structure to support their church planting efforts. The Beekeeping/Honey Project for example is providing funding for the ongoing missions work of two indigenous missionaries working in Myanmar.
In spite of all the good being done we still need your help. Crossroads needs to expand its capacity in each of the four micro-development projects currently run in India - a Chicken Farm, a Fish Farm, the Tailoring Project, and a Beekeeping/Honey Project. Expanding the capacity of each project not only increases the number of individuals torn from the grip of poverty but also doubles the number of church plants, indigenous missionaries, and Youth Outreaches (i.e. The Awakening) that are supported. We need $1,500 to expand the impact of these ministries. Can you help? Your gift of $15, $35, $100 will go a long way in changing the course of how missions is carried out in India. Interested? If so, mark your donation “Micro-development Expansion Project” and send it to the Crossroads office. Giving can also be done online at www.crossroadsinternational.org.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in Reaching, Responding, and Restoring lives through the life changing gospel of Christ.
